About Stromer
Stromer was founded in 2009 in Switzerland by Thomas Binggeli, who set out to build a different kind of electric bike: one fast enough to replace a car commute. The result was the speed pedelec, a Class 3 e-bike that assists up to 28 mph. Stromer builds every model around that idea.
Stromer puts the motor in the rear hub and the technology in the frame. Its bikes run powerful rear-hub motors, large integrated batteries, and the OMNI connectivity platform, which adds GPS tracking, keyless locking, and theft alerts through a phone app. The bikes are heavy, fast, and built to handle daily high-speed mileage.
Stromer’s lineup is five speed pedelecs, all built in Switzerland. The ST1 is the entry point, the ST2 and ST3 are the daily-commute workhorses with Pinion gearboxes and belt drives, the ST5 is the tech-loaded flagship, and the ST7 is the long-range model with a 1,440Wh battery. Every Stromer is a commuter bike first.
Most popular Stromer models
Every Stromer is a speed pedelec, so the lineup is organized by range, power, and technology rather than by discipline. The ST1 is the reliable entry model with a 500W rear-hub motor and an 814Wh battery. The ST2 adds a Pinion gearbox and Gates Carbon belt drive for low-maintenance commuting, and the ST3 steps up gearing and range for high-mileage riders.
At the top, the ST5 is the flagship, packed with Stromer’s latest motor and connectivity technology, and the ST7 is the long-range model, with a 1,440Wh battery good for up to 160 miles. These are fast, expensive bikes built for daily car-replacement commuting, and their value plus their theft appeal is exactly why stand-alone commuter bike insurance matters for a Stromer.
