On a rainy day in Fort Lauderdale, two friends and avid cyclists got together to discuss how badly home and renters policies insured bikes while completely overlooking the niche risks cyclists take on every time they go for a ride. As we recounted personal experiences and anecdotes, it became obvious that there had to be a better way. We set to bring a product to the market that would provide coverage that cyclists would actually want. On that wet day over tacos, Velosurance was founded.

Best A-rated, U.S.-based underwriter and leader in recreational insurance known for innovative underwriting and uncompromising fairness in claims handling. Our commitment to getting riders back in the saddle is backed by millions of dollars in paid claims, handled with transparency and care, and evidenced through customer reviews and social media mentions.
Ahead of the curve
As cyclists ourselves, we’re deeply embedded in the riding community and attuned to the pulse of the industry. We were early to recognize the e-bike revolution and offer coverage to meet the needs of this growing movement. In line with this, we introduced $300,000 in optional liability coverage to satisfy the insurance requirements of e-bike owners and the underlying coverage requirements for personal liability umbrella insurance policies. In 2024 we raised this limit to $500,000.
