Velosurance is a national insurance agency founded by two cyclists in response to the insurance needs of bicycle riders nationwide. We partnered with an A.M.Best “A” rated, US insurance company to provide a multi-risk policy offering protection to all types of cyclists.
The bicycle insurance policy protects you and your tricycle from all cycling risks like crashes, theft, medical expenses, or personal liability.
Having insurance for your trike can offer financial security in the event of unforeseen accidents, theft, or damages. It doesn't matter if the incident is a minor mistake or a result of someone else's negligence, and whether it occurs while riding, at home, or during transportation.
Your trike is covered if it’s damaged in a crash. On a road or trail, a group ride or a race, if it’s damaged in an accident, it’s covered.
If your tricycle is stolen from your home, car, workplace or any other secure location, it’s covered.
We will protect you from personal liability (injury, sickness, death, or damage to property) you cause while riding your tricycle. Coverage limits offered: $25,000, $50,000, $100,000 or $300,000 per occurrence.
Tricycles are perfectly fit to urban lifestyles by offering a practical, cost-effective, and flexible mobility alternative. As trikes are primarily used on public roads, sidewalks and shared paths, unfortunate incidents such as accidents, thefts, and damages are quite prevalent and can lead to substantial repair or replacement costs. Considering that for some a trike is the primary mode of transportation, it's imperative to safeguard the investment with insurance coverage. Bicycle insurance provides coverage for trikes and offers a peace of mind by ensuring that you are protected against unforeseen events.
Your tricycle is covered if it’s damaged in a crash. If it’s damaged in any accident, it’s covered.
Although riding a trike is not overly difficult due to its inherent stability and naturally lower speed, it does require some adjustments. Tricycles are less maneuverable than regular bicycles and have wider turning radii and longer braking distances. These differences become more pronounced when the trike is loaded with cargo. While minor accidents can be valuable learning experiences, more severe crashes can result in significant damage. In such situations, having insurance can be advantageous. Bicycle insurance provides a sense of security and can cover the cost of repairs or replacement for a tricycle. Our basic policy covers up to $500 for riding gear, such as helmets, gloves, shoes, sunglasses, and apparel, as well as spare parts up to $500 per loss, with a policy term limit of $1,000.
If your tricycle is stolen from your home, car, workplace or any other secure location, it’s covered.
Similar to any other valuable possession, tricycles are susceptible to theft. There are several methods of stealing cargo bikes, including theft from homes or garages, or stealing them from public parking areas or garages. Thieves find trikes attractive due to their high value, exceptional popularity, relative rarity, or because they are comparatively easy to sell. To prevent theft, it is crucial to secure your bike with a sturdy lock, store it in a secure location, and take precautions while transporting it. However, even with the best precautions, trikes can still be stolen. In such instances, having insurance for your bike can provide financial protection and minimize downtime by helping to cover the cost of replacement.
Our policy offers a wide range of optional coverages to eliminate or minimize risks of cycling lifestyle.
The cyclist insurance policy will pay to replace the bike when the bike is accidentally damaged beyond repair. If the damage can be repaired, the policy will pay all the costs associated with the repair. Cosmetic damage is excluded.
We will protect you from personal liability (injury, sickness, death, or damage to property) you cause while riding your bike. Coverage limits offered: $25,000, $50,000 or $100,000 per occurrence.
We cover all electric bikes with nominal power of 750 Watts or less. All coverages available for conventional bikes also apply to e-bikes.
Electric tricycles are an excellent substitute for a vehicle in urban environments. With extended range, hill climbing ability, higher speeds and ability to carry substantial cargo, they can be operated without a driver’s license and by people with special needs.
Electric bikes have undoubtedly become a permanent fixture in the biking world, despite previously being a controversial topic. While electrification makes any bike more versatile and fun, trikes are particularly noteworthy because of their niche use-case. With the help of an electric motor, trikes can travel farther and faster while carrying heavy loads up steep hills. Due to their relative ease of operation and accessibility, they have become a viable alternative to a family car or SUV, especially for the elderly and those with limited mobility and special needs. Our policy covers electric bikes and trikes just like normal bikes. Additional optional coverages such as liability, medical payments, and vehicle contact protection are also available.
Velosurance core policy offers must-have protection such as accidental damage, theft, or loss in transit. Each policy can be customized by adding additional coverages such as liability protection, uninsured motorist coverage, and medical gap coverage.
Bikes are very easy to steal and equally difficult to recover and a hefty U-lock doesn’t guarantee that your bicycle will remain yours when you return. Velosurance provides the peace of mind when your bike is stolen or damaged in the process.
If you’re hurt, we'll cover some of your medical bills, up to the policy limit. This coverage pays to supplement the deductible of your personal health insurance policy.
The cyclist insurance policy will pay to replace the bike when the bike is accidentally damaged beyond repair. If the damage can be repaired, the policy will pay all the costs associated with the repair. Cosmetic damage is excluded.
Bikes often get damaged in transit, by airline and courier services alike. Filing a claim with these is a notoriously difficult process with a questionable outcome. Velosurance covers your bike while it is on it’s way to your destination.
We cover all electric bikes with nominal power of 750 Watts or less. All coverages available for conventional bikes also apply to e-bikes.
We will protect you from personal liability (injury, sickness, death, or damage to property) you cause while riding your bike. Coverage limits offered: $25,000, $50,000, $100,000 or $300,000 per occurrence.
If your travels take you outside of the USA and Canada we can extend the policy's physical damage and theft coverage worldwide for a reasonable additional premium. This also covers the bike while in transit by the airline.
Nationwide Bike Shop Repair. It's your bike and where you get the bike repaired is your choice.
If your apparel, such as helmet, shoes, glasses or riding kit is damaged in an accident, it's covered up to $500. Spare parts, such as a racing wheelset are also covered up to $500, up to $1,000 per policy term.
Damage due to a crash while racing is covered with an optional coverage. In the heat of a race, the focus on speed often outweighs concerns for safety, leaving little margin for error. In the unfortunate event of a crash, the racing coverage option will provide coverage for your bike.
Not all types of insurance are created equal. Velosurance levels the playing field by offering a stand-alone bike insurance policy, where claims will not affect your homeowner or renters policy premiums.

"I was extremely satisfied when I had to file a claim for an accident that damaged my bike frame. After submitting the bike shops report and estimate, a check arrived in the mail within a few days. I also appreciate having roadside service available. They clearly are an honest and reputable company. "

"In three years I made two Velosurance claims and both were paid within a week and for exactly the cost of repair to my bike. I ride an $8k bike and having insurance helps me sleep better at night knowing that this insurance will reimburse me if someone broke into my garage and stole my bike. "

The bicycle insurance policy protects you and your trike from all cycling risks like crashes, theft, medical expenses, or personal liability.
The Velosurance mission is to be fair to everyone involved, and to offer our best advice to clients so they can make an educated decision about their bicycle insurance coverage. We also like to ride as much as possible.
Bicycle prices increase every year and cyclists who are serious about their sport are spending big money on high value bikes. Other forms of insurance, like homeowners and renters insurance, do a poor job insuring high value bicycles so we founded Velosurance to fix that.
Velosurance provides a stand-alone, no bike value depreciation, bicycle insurance policy to replace the cobbled together, sub standard coverages offered by traditional insurance.
We are cyclists just like you, and we understand that when your bike gets damaged in an accident you want the shortest possible downtime. We make it our mission to see that your claim check arrives before the repair parts do and you get back pedaling as soon as you want to.
We are riders and insurance experts who give advice and share insights to educate fellow riders and keep them safe while on road or trail. We want you to become a better rider by helping you understand and manage risk associated with your lifestyle.
