About Raleigh
Raleigh is one of the oldest names in cycling. Richard Woodhead and Paul Angois started building bicycles in Nottingham, England, in 1885, and Frank Bowden bought the business in December 1888 and turned it into The Raleigh Cycle Company. By 1913 it was the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world. Joop Zoetemelk won the 1980 Tour de France on a TI-Raleigh.
The American side changed hands often. Huffy bought the rights to the Raleigh USA name in 1982, Derby Cycle took over in 1987 and opened a factory in Kent, Washington, in 1988, and the Dutch Accell Group bought Raleigh’s UK, US, and Canadian businesses in 2012 for $100 million. The last US catalogue, sold through dealers and raleighusa.com into 2021, paired Bosch-powered e-bikes with aluminum commuters, hybrids, and hardtails priced from $550 to $3,499.
That catalogue is closed. The US license ended, raleighusa.com went offline, and an Amsterdam court declared Accell Group bankrupt on August 11, 2026. The Raleigh in your garage still insures the same way: Velosurance covers it at the stated value you choose, with no depreciation.
Most popular Raleigh models
Most of Raleigh’s US e-bikes ran on Bosch mid-drives. The Redux iE is the fast one: a Class 3 commuter whose Bosch Performance Line Speed motor assists up to 28 mph, with a 500 Wh battery and a last list price of $3,499. The Retroglide Royale iE cruiser ($2,750), the step-through Venture iE ($2,850), the Detour iE hybrid ($2,400), and the Sprite iE 2.0 ($2,150) all use Bosch Active Line motors that assist up to 20 mph. The Misceo iE ($1,800) runs an SR Suntour rear hub motor instead, and the Tristar iE ($2,900) puts a TranzX center motor on three wheels.
The pedal bikes are aluminum and priced for daily use: the Redux city bike ($765 to $850) on 27.5 x 47c tires, the Cadent fitness hybrid ($575 to $675), the Detour comfort hybrid ($600 to $685), the Merit endurance road bike ($750 to $1,260), and the Talus hardtail ($600 to $700) with a 100 mm SR Suntour fork. A bike that spends its days locked outside an office or a train station is a theft target, and commuter bike insurance covers theft, subject to the policy’s locking conditions, along with crash damage.

Raleigh's Warranty: What It Covers and Where It Stops
Raleigh's US warranty gave the original owner lifetime coverage on a rigid frame. These are the last terms raleighusa.com published before it went offline, and with no US distributor today, who would honor a claim is an open question. Five terms decide what that is worth to you.
Lifetime on rigid frames, for the original owner
A rigid frame is covered for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the bicycle. A full-suspension frame gets five years on the front triangle and one year on the swing arm. The warranty is not transferable, so a used Raleigh has none.
One year on forks, parts, paint, and decals
Raleigh-branded forks and components, the finish, and the decals are covered for one year from the original purchase date. Parts from other brands fall under their own manufacturer's warranty.
E-bike motors and batteries follow the system maker
On a branded drive system such as Bosch, the motor, battery, display, wiring, and controller are covered for whatever term the system manufacturer sets. Raleigh-branded or unbranded motors get two years, and unbranded batteries, displays, wiring, and controllers get one.
Labor is covered for 30 days on a parts swap
Labor for a parts replacement is covered for thirty days, and labor for a frame replacement for one year. A claim needs proof of purchase and the fully assembled bike at an authorized US dealer, and freight and diagnosis charges are yours.
Defects only: accident damage is excluded
The warranty does not apply to normal wear, abuse, neglect, or alteration, and Raleigh's liability never exceeds the original purchase price. Damage from an accident is excluded too, and no warranty replaces a stolen bike. Those are the losses a Velosurance policy is built for.
