About Marin
Marin Bikes takes its name from Marin County, California, and its motto is three words: Made for Fun. The first mountain bikes carrying the name debuted in 1986, starting with the Madrone Trail, and two years later the 1988 Team Titanium became one of the first production titanium mountain bikes. The model names still read like a trail map of Marin County, California: Muirwoods, Bolinas Ridge, Pine Mountain, Headlands, Nicasio, Fairfax.
The company was early to hybrids in 1991 and to full suspension with the 1993 Titanium FRS, and it came under new ownership and management in 2012. The modern range runs on the MultiTrac suspension platform. Marin calls the Rift Zone, redesigned in 2023, its most popular mountain bike. The Quake downhill bike returned in 2024, the year Marin rider Martha Gill won the Queen of Crankworx title.
Marin sells through dealers and its own store from Petaluma, California. Today’s catalogue covers trail, enduro, and downhill bikes, hardtails, steel and carbon gravel bikes, fitness hybrids, kids’ bikes, and e-bikes on Bosch and Bafang drive systems, including the Lombard E, its first electric gravel bike, launched in 2025.

Marin splits its drop-bar and city bikes by frame material. The Headlands is the carbon gravel bike ($2,999 to $4,999) with room for 700c x 50 mm tires, the Gestalt the aluminum one from $1,099, and the Nicasio and Four Corners the steel all-road and touring bikes from $999 and $1,299. The Fairfax fitness hybrid starts at $649, and the Fairfax E ($1,799) adds a Bafang hub motor and a throttle as a Class 2 e-bike. Marin also sells the Muirwoods, Kentfield, Larkspur, Presidio, Stinson, and DSX city and flat-bar bikes, the Class 1 Sausalito E, and the Class 3 Lombard E.
The mountain range is where the brand started. The Rift Zone trail bike pairs 130 mm of MultiTrac travel with a 140 mm fork from $1,999, the Alpine Trail is the 160 mm enduro bike from $3,299, and the San Quentin and Bobcat Trail hardtails start at $999 and $879. The TAM, a 120 mm cross-country bike, joined for 2026, next to the Quake downhill bike, the Team Marin hardtail, and the Alcatraz dirt jumper. Two Bosch e-MTBs lead the electric side: the lightweight Rift Zone EL with a Performance Line SX motor, and the Alpine Trail E with a 120 Nm CX Gen 5 motor and an 800 Wh battery, priced up to $9,299. A bike that gets crashed on purpose-built trails and driven to them on a rack needs mountain bike insurance that pays for crash damage and for loss or damage in transit.

Marin's Warranty: What It Covers and Where It Stops
Marin warrants its bikes against defects in material and workmanship for the original retail purchaser, with a lifetime term on rigid frames. Five terms decide what that is worth to you.
Lifetime on rigid frames, five years on carbon and full suspension
Rigid frames and forks are covered for life. Carbon fiber frames and forks get five years from the date of purchase, and so do full-suspension frames. Marin alone decides whether a failed frame qualifies, weighing the failure and the frame's useful life.
One year on the complete bicycle
All original parts, the paint, and the decals are warranted for one year, except tires, tubes, chains, and other wear items. Suspension forks and rear shocks are left to the suspension maker's own warranty.
Report a defect in writing within 60 days
Marin must be notified in writing within 60 days of a claimed defect. The complete bicycle then goes to an authorized Marin dealer with a receipt that identifies it by serial number, and some labor and shipping charges may be yours.
Original owner and dealer-assembled bikes only
The warranty is valid only if an authorized Marin dealer sold and assembled the bike, and it does not transfer to a later owner. Bikes bought used are excluded, and removing the original decals ends the coverage.
Defects only: accidents and shipping damage are excluded
Marin repairs the defect, exchanges the product, or offers a credit toward a new one, at its discretion. Products involved in accidents are excluded, and so is damage that occurs during shipment. Those are the losses a Velosurance policy is built for.
