About LOOK
LOOK was founded in 1951 in Nevers, France, as a ski-binding manufacturer, and it still builds its carbon frames there today. In 1984 the company adapted that binding expertise to cycling and invented the clipless pedal, replacing toe clips and straps with a ski-style cleat that locked the shoe to the pedal. Bernard Hinault rode LOOK pedals to victory at the 1985 Tour de France, and the design reshaped how the entire sport puts power to the cranks.
Carbon followed close behind. LOOK built one of the first carbon fiber frames, the KG 86, and has manufactured carbon road frames in France ever since. The brand engineers its own integrated components, including the Keo pedal line and the one-piece ZED carbon crankset, and uses its 3D Wave carbon layup to tune ride comfort without adding weight.
Today LOOK builds premium carbon bikes across road, gravel, track, and triathlon, plus a growing line of road e-bikes. Its track program carries deep Olympic heritage, with frames like the 895 Vitesse and P24 developed for velodrome competition. The lineup stays narrow and high-end, with framesets and complete builds aimed at racers and serious enthusiasts rather than the entry tier.
Most popular LOOK models
LOOK splits its road range by purpose. The 795 Blade RS is the aero flagship built for flat-out racing, the 785 Huez RS is the lightweight climbing bike, and the standard 785 Huez and the endurance-oriented 765 Optimum bring the same French carbon down to more attainable builds. Each is offered as a frameset or as a complete bike with your choice of SRAM or Shimano groupset.
Off the road, the 765 Gravel RS and the newer G85 Cezal cover mixed terrain with the same 3D Wave carbon, the 895 Vitesse carries LOOK’s track pedigree onto the velodrome, and the E-765 Optimum and E-765 Gravel add a discreet motor to the endurance and gravel platforms. The 796 Monoblade RS is the brand’s time-trial and triathlon weapon, a several-thousand-dollar frameset whose replacement value sits well above what a homeowner’s policy will cover, which is where stand-alone triathlon bike insurance from Velosurance fills the gap.
