About Wilier Triestina
Wilier Triestina is one of the oldest names in cycling, founded in 1906 by Pietro Dal Molin in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. The name is an acronym for the patriotic rallying cry W l’Italia Liberata e Redenta, with Triestina added for the city of Trieste, then still outside Italy’s borders. The brand has built racing bicycles on the banks of the Brenta river for more than a century.
Racing made the name. Fiorenzo Magni won the 1948 Giro d’Italia on a Wilier, and in 1997 Marco Pantani took two of the Tour de France’s hardest stages, Alpe d’Huez and Morzine, aboard a yellow aluminum Wilier. The brand returned to the WorldTour in the modern era and still designs and finishes its carbon frames in Italy.
Now headquartered in Rossano Veneto, Wilier builds across every performance discipline. The road range runs from the Filante SLR aero bike to the featherweight Verticale SLR climber and the endurance-focused Granturismo SLR. Gravel splits between the Rave SLR race bike and the adventure-oriented Adlar, while the Supersonica SLR carries the brand into time trials. Integrated cockpits, deep Italian carbon expertise, and a stated culture of speed tie the lineup together.
Most popular Wilier Triestina models
Wilier’s road bikes anchor the lineup. The Filante SLR is the aerodynamic flagship raced at WorldTour level, with the more accessible Filante SL sharing the aero silhouette at a lower price. The Verticale SLR is the ultralight climber, and the Granturismo SLR trades a little stiffness for endurance comfort over long days and rough roads. Every SLR frame uses Wilier’s highest-modulus carbon and a fully integrated front end.
Beyond the road, the Rave SLR is Wilier’s drop-bar gravel racer, while the Adlar leans toward bigger tires and adventure routes. The Supersonica SLR is the brand’s time-trial and triathlon machine. A Wilier represents several thousand dollars of replacement value that a homeowner’s policy will often cap below, which is where stand-alone gravel bike insurance from Velosurance fills the gap.
