About Jamis
Jamis started in 1979 with the Earth Cruiser, a re-engineered cantilever beach cruiser, and followed it with the Boss Cruiser in 1980. By 1983 it was building the Dakota, Lightfoot, and Roughneck, among the few quality production mountain bikes then on sale. The 1985 Dakar, a fillet-brazed race bike in triple-butted Ishiwata tubing, set the design credo Jamis still quotes: no gimmicks, no gadgets, no nonsense, no compromise.
Steel is the constant. The Coda arrived in 1991, the Dragon hardtail in 1993, and in 1997 the Dragon and the Eclipse were among the first US production bikes built in Reynolds 853. Jamis also moved early elsewhere: the carbon monocoque Diablo in 1998, 650B trail bikes in 2010, four years ahead of the rest of the industry, and the Renegade in 2015, one of the first dedicated carbon gravel bikes.
The current range covers gravel, road, full-suspension and hardtail mountain bikes, city bikes, cruisers, kids’ bikes, and the Hudson Class 1 e-bikes, sold through dealers and online. Frames and rigid forks carry a lifetime warranty for the original owner, with shorter terms on full-suspension frames.
Most popular Jamis models
The Renegade is the headline. The carbon bikes run from the $3,200 C4 with Shimano GRX to the $9,300 C1 with SRAM Red AXS 13-speed, the steel bikes from $1,500 to $3,600, and an alloy A1 sells for $1,100. All of them carry 21 mounts and clear a 700c x 50 mm tire. The Ventura is the disc-brake road bike at $1,050 to $1,300. Off road, the Portal (130 mm, 29er) and Hardline (160 mm, 27.5) share the 3VO suspension platform and list from $3,800 to $9,500, the Faultline is the $2,000 to $3,700 Horst Link trail bike, and the Dragon, Highpoint, and Durango hardtails run from $730 to $2,600.
In town, the steel Coda starts at $570, the Sequel covers commuting and light dirt from $1,050, and the Hudson E1 adds a 250W Class 1 motor for $1,900. A bike that spends its working day on a city rack is a theft target, and commuter bike insurance covers it when it is locked to an immovable object with an appropriate security device, subject to the policy’s locking conditions.
The carbon gravel and adventure bike Jamis launched in 2015, now with 21 mounts, tubeless gravel rims, and clearance for 700c x 50 mm tires. Builds run from SRAM Apex and Shimano GRX to SRAM Red AXS 13-speed.

The steel all-mountain hardtail Jamis has built since 1993, now a 29er in Reynolds 520 tubing with Boost 148 spacing and ISCG-05 tabs.

Jamis's Warranty: What It Covers and Where It Stops
Jamis warrants its frames and rigid forks for the life of the bike, for the original owner who registers it. Five terms decide what that is worth to you.
Lifetime on frames and rigid forks, less on full suspension
Frames and rigid forks are covered for the lifetime of the bicycle while the original retail purchaser owns it. Full-suspension frames with 5 inches of rear travel or less get 5 years, those with more get 2 years, and the Komodo and Kromo get 5 years.
One year on components, paint, and decals
Components other than the frame and fork are warranted for one year, and so are the paint finish and decals. Suspension forks and rear shocks are excluded and fall under their own manufacturers' warranties.
Register within 30 days or lose the coverage
Returning the warranty registration form within 30 days of purchase is a condition of coverage. A claim also requires the complete bicycle, presented to an authorized Jamis dealer with a receipt that identifies the bike by serial number.
A replacement part is free, freight and labor are yours
The warranty is limited to replacing the defective part without charge, with one of equal or greater value at Jamis's discretion. The original owner pays all freight and labor charges connected with the warranty and the parts changeover.
Defects only: accident damage is excluded
Racing, jumping, or modifying the frame or components voids the warranty, and normal wear, abuse, neglect, and improper assembly are not covered. Damage from an accident is excluded too. Those are the losses a Velosurance policy is built for.
