About EVELO
EVELO was founded in 2011 by brothers Boris and Yevgeniy Mordkovich, and shipped its first electric bike in March 2012 to a customer in New Jersey. To prove the bikes could go the distance, the company rode one 4,000 miles from New York to San Francisco. The model was direct-to-consumer from the start: sell comfortable, capable e-bikes online, skip the dealer markup, and back them with a long warranty and an at-home trial.
EVELO built its identity around the mid-drive motor when most direct-to-consumer brands were still bolting hub motors onto budget frames. Its bikes pair a torque-sensing mid-drive with an Enviolo Automatiq continuously variable transmission that shifts itself, and a Gates Carbon belt drive in place of a chain. The result is a near-maintenance-free drivetrain with no gears to index and no chain to lube. Every bike carries a 4-year warranty, among the longest in the industry.
Headquartered in Seattle, EVELO sells e-bikes exclusively, with a lineup that runs from the Omega cruiser to the Galaxy step-through commuters, the Atlas adventure bike, and the Compass electric trike. The brand also engineered the Omni Wheel, a self-contained conversion kit that turns a conventional bicycle into an e-bike in about 10 minutes. The focus throughout is comfort and accessibility: upright riding positions, low step-over heights, and automatic shifting for riders who want range and ease over racing pedigree.
Most popular EVELO models
Every EVELO shares the same backbone: a torque-sensing mid-drive motor, an Enviolo continuously variable transmission that shifts automatically, and a Gates Carbon belt drive. The platform favors comfort and low maintenance over outright speed, with upright geometry, integrated frame batteries, and a real-world range of roughly 40 to 60 miles per charge.
The Omega is the flagship cruiser and the Atlas is the long-range adventure bike, both built on 600W mid-drives with 60-mile batteries. The Galaxy Lux and Galaxy 500 are the step-through commuters, with low stand-over heights for easy mounting and dismounting around town. The Compass adds a third wheel for riders who want the stability of a trike with the reach of a motor. Each of these is a several-thousand-dollar machine that a homeowner’s policy will often cap below its replacement value, which is where stand-alone commuter bike insurance from Velosurance fills the gap.

The flagship cruiser, with a 600W mid-drive, automatic Enviolo CVT, and a 60-mile battery for upright, low-maintenance riding.

The long-range adventure bike, pairing a 600W mid-drive and Gates Carbon belt drive with a 60-mile battery for mixed-surface touring.

The premium step-through commuter, with a low stand-over frame, automatic shifting, and a 55-mile range for easy around-town riding.

The value step-through commuter, a comfort-focused city e-bike with a low step-over height and mid-drive power.

The electric trike, a 500W mid-drive three-wheeler built for stability and cargo capacity around town.
