About Urban Arrow
Urban Arrow set out to replace the car for city families. The Dutch company started in 2010, designed by two fathers who wanted a modern take on the traditional Dutch bakfiets, the front-load bucket bike. The result was the Family, a long-wheelbase electric cargo bike with a lightweight EPP foam box that could carry more kids and gear than almost anything else on two wheels.
Every Urban Arrow is electric. The bikes run Bosch drive systems, and the 2025 model year moved the range onto Bosch’s Smart System, which adds an alarm and motor lock for theft protection. Pon Bike, one of the largest bicycle groups in the world, acquired Urban Arrow in 2019, putting it alongside Gazelle and Santa Cruz.
Urban Arrow builds cargo bikes and only cargo bikes. The Family and FamilyNext are the front-load family haulers, the Shorty is the compact version for tighter storage, and the Cargo and Tender are the commercial platforms used by companies like DHL and Coolblue. The brand is based in Amsterdam.
