About Pinarello

Cicli Pinarello was founded in 1953 in Treviso, Italy by Giovanni “Nani” Pinarello. Nani had ridden the Giro d’Italia as a professional, taking the maglia nera in 1951 for finishing last. His team paid him 100,000 lire to step aside the following year and make room for a younger rider. He used the money to open a shop in Treviso, and the Pinarello name has built bikes there ever since.

Pinarello has won the Tour de France 15 times, more than any other manufacturer. Miguel Induráin took four consecutive yellow jerseys on Pinarello frames from 1992 to 1995. Bjarne Riis and Jan Ullrich rode the Pinarello Paris to victory in 1996 and 1997. The Dogma platform has carried Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Egan Bernal, and Tadej Pogačar to the top step in Paris since 2012. The asymmetric chainstays, ONDA fork curve, and 1K T1100 carbon construction are Pinarello signatures recognizable across the peloton.

The company was acquired by L Catterton, LVMH’s private equity arm, in December 2016. Manufacturing of complete bikes and proprietary tooling remains in Treviso, and the lineup spans the Dogma F race platform, the Dogma X endurance platform, the F-Series and X-Series carbon tiers, the Grevil gravel platform, the Bolide time-trial bike, and the Nytro e-road family powered by a Fazua mid-drive.

Most popular Pinarello models

Pinarello’s lineup is organized around two carbon tiers: the flagship Dogma platforms in T1100 1K carbon, and the F-Series and X-Series in a slightly heavier but still race-grade layup. Every road frame uses the brand’s asymmetric chainstay design and the ONDA fork; geometry is tuned for either pure race position (Dogma F, F-Series) or longer reach with 35 mm tire clearance for endurance riding (Dogma X, X-Series).

The Dogma F is the aero race bike Team Sky/Ineos and Ineos Grenadiers have ridden to a dozen Tour de France wins; the Dogma X brings the same construction to a mixed-terrain platform with X-Stays vibration management. The F-Series and X-Series step the price down through Shimano 105, Ultegra, and SRAM Rival builds while keeping the silhouette and ride character. The Grevil F is Pinarello’s gravel race bike with up to 50 mm tire clearance, and the Nytro is a Fazua-equipped e-road bike that hides the motor in the bottom bracket cluster. Bikes in this tier carry replacement values that homeowner’s policies frequently cap below, which is where stand-alone road bike insurance fills the gap.
