About BMC
BMC builds bikes in Grenchen, Switzerland, and has done since the brand took its modern shape under Andy Rihs, the entrepreneur who bought the company in 2000 with the stated goal of making the “Porsche of race bikes.” The name dates to 1986, when American Bob Bigelow founded it as a Raleigh distributor, but the engineering-led identity that defines BMC today started with Rihs.
The race results followed. Cadel Evans won the 2011 Tour de France on a BMC Teammachine, and the brand has spent the years since pushing frame design through its in-house Impec Lab, the carbon-layup and tube-shaping facility behind the Teammachine and Speedmachine platforms. In 2025 BMC returned to the WorldTour with Tudor Pro Cycling, a partnership built on a shared Swiss identity.
BMC’s current lineup spans road, gravel, and mountain. The Teammachine SLR and Teammachine R cover lightweight and aero road racing; the Roadmachine handles endurance; the Kaius and URS take on gravel; and the Fourstroke and Twostroke race cross-country. The AMP series carries BMC’s frame philosophy into pedal-assist, with electric versions of the Roadmachine and URS.
Most popular BMC models
BMC’s road range splits by purpose. The Teammachine SLR is the lightweight climber’s bike, the Teammachine R is the aero platform raced by Tudor Pro Cycling, and the Roadmachine is the endurance model built for long days and rougher surfaces. The Roadmachine AMP adds a mid-drive motor to that endurance platform for riders who want assistance without losing the road feel. The Speedmachine is BMC’s triathlon and time-trial superbike, with integrated storage and full aero shaping.
Off the tarmac, the Kaius is BMC’s gravel race bike and the URS is the longer-travel gravel adventure platform, with the URS AMP adding electric assist. The Fourstroke is the full-suspension cross-country racer and the Twostroke is the hardtail sibling. For city riding, the Alpenchallenge is a flat-bar fitness bike and the 257 AMP is the urban e-bike. The Speedmachine’s level of integration and replacement value is exactly what a standalone triathlon bike insurance policy is built to protect.

BMC's lightweight all-rounder race bike, built in the Impec Lab for stiffness-to-weight and the platform Cadel Evans rode to win the 2011 Tour de France. Disc-brake carbon frame with integrated cockpit across the 01 builds.

The aero road race platform raced by Tudor Pro Cycling, with deep tube profiles and a fully integrated front end. Built for flat-out speed where the Teammachine SLR prioritizes climbing.

BMC's endurance road bike, with relaxed geometry, clearance for rougher surfaces, and the comfort to handle all-day rides. Available in carbon 01 builds and more accessible alloy trims.

The endurance Roadmachine platform with a mid-drive motor and integrated battery, tuned to keep the natural road feel while adding pedal assist for longer rides and bigger climbs.

BMC's gravel race bike, built light and fast with road-bike handling and clearance for gravel tires. Designed for gravel events where speed matters more than cargo capacity.

The Unrestricted gravel platform, with longer travel, a more capable geometry, and the MTT compliance fork for rough terrain and multi-day routes.

The URS gravel platform with electric assist, pairing the Unrestricted frame's rough-terrain capability with a mid-drive motor for extended range on mixed surfaces.

BMC's full-suspension cross-country race bike, with an integrated dropper post and a frame tuned for World Cup XC courses. Built around fast climbing and efficient pedaling.

The hardtail cross-country sibling to the Fourstroke, with a lightweight frame for racing and trail riding. The most accessible entry into BMC's mountain lineup.

BMC's triathlon and time-trial superbike, with full aero integration, onboard hydration and storage, and the adjustability triathletes need across race distances.

BMC's flat-bar urban and fitness bike, with an alloy frame, clean lines, and the handling of a road bike adapted for city commuting and fitness rides.

BMC's urban e-bike line, with an integrated motor and battery in a lightweight frame built for city commuting. Offered in standard and step-through versions.
