About Felt
Felt traces back to a single triathlon frame Jim Felt welded for Paula Newby-Fraser in the late 1980s. That bike won the Ironman World Championship in Kona, and the result set the brand’s purpose: build bikes that go fast. Felt formally launched in 1994, distributed by Answer Products, and relaunched as an independent company in 2001 after that partnership ended.
Felt built its reputation in two disciplines where aerodynamics decide races. The IA triathlon platform and the AR aero road bike carried the brand through years of pro racing, and Felt track frames have run under riders at velodromes including Detroit’s Lexus Velodrome. The brand was acquired by the Rossignol Group in 2017, then went owner-operated in 2025 under Cesar Rojo and Florian Burguet.
Felt now designs and engineers its bikes in Barcelona, with a focused lineup built around speed. The 2026 era introduced the NEXAR aero road bike and the carbon Breed gravel bike, joining the FR race road bike, the VR endurance platform, the Broam adventure-gravel bike, and the IA 2.0 triathlon superbike. The range is narrower than it once was, but every model still answers the question Jim Felt started with.
Most popular Felt models
Felt’s road range covers three jobs. The FR is the lightweight all-around race bike for climbing and hammering, the NEXAR is the aero road platform built for flat-out speed, and the VR is the endurance bike with clearance for 700x38 tires and the comfort for long, mixed-surface days. The Verza Speed sits below them as a flat-bar fitness bike for riders who want road-bike pace without drop bars.
On dirt, the carbon Breed is Felt’s gravel race bike and the Broam is the more relaxed adventure-gravel platform built for bikepacking and rough surfaces. The IA 2.0 and IAx Advanced carry Felt’s integrated triathlon design, and the TK track frame continues the velodrome heritage the brand has held for decades. The IA platform’s deep aero integration and high replacement value are exactly what a standalone triathlon bike insurance policy is built to protect.
