I am a member of a club. Can a club get a policy?

Last updated

Every club member is covered through their own individual Velosurance policy, and that works in your favor. The coverage is built around your bike and your riding, and it travels with you to every club ride, group event, and race, wherever they take you across all 50 states and Canada.

An individual policy also stays personal to you. You set your bike's insured value, choose your deductible and optional coverages, and keep the same protection even if you change clubs or ride solo. Nothing about your coverage depends on the club staying together.

The one thing to know: there is no single club-level policy that blankets every member's bike under one contract. Each rider insures their own bike instead.

Club membership can still pay off. If your club is affiliated with USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, or IMBA, you qualify for a 10% membership discount, which you select when you get your quote.

Does my club membership get me a discount?

Yes, when the membership is with USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, or IMBA. Each of those qualifies you for a 10% discount on your bicycle coverage, and you simply select your membership during the quote. See our cycling association discounts answer for more.

Is a friend covered if they ride my bike on a club ride?

Yes. Your policy includes permissive use, so anyone riding your bike for recreation with your permission is covered under the same terms as you, as long as the use is non-commercial. See who is covered to ride your bike for the details.
