How much does a policy cost?

Last updated

A Velosurance policy starts at $100 per year, and most riders settle at a premium that costs a small fraction of what replacing the bike would be. Coverage is effective anywhere in the USA and Canada for theft and every type of accidental damage, including loss or damage while the bike is in transit by road or air.

Your exact premium depends on what you ride and where you ride it, so the fastest way to see the premium is to run a quote. It takes less than five minutes and you can purchase coverage on the last step. Get a quote here.

What Drives the Price of My Policy?

Six things: bike frame material, insured value, the policy deductible, your location, how you ride, and the coverages you select. Location matters more than most riders expect, because a policy issued in Florida with a 12-month riding season costs more than one issued in Minnesota, where the riding season is shorter. An insurance score built from your past insurance experience also factors in, and requesting a quote will not affect your credit score. We break the rating factors down further in how the premium is calculated.

How Do I Lower My Premium?

Stack the discounts. Insuring two bikes on one policy takes 10% off the bicycle coverage premium, and three or more takes 15%, with no upper limit on the number of bikes or the dollar savings. Active USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, and IMBA members earn another 10%, and that membership discount stacks with the multi-bike discount. Choosing a higher deductible lowers the premium as well. Worldwide coverage costs 10% of your annual premium when you need it, and you can add it for a single trip and remove it afterward through the Client Portal.
