Can I cancel the policy if I sell my bike?

Last updated

Yes. You can cancel anytime from the Client portal using the Cancel policy link. If another bike is on the way, though, the better move is usually to keep the policy active and swap the new bike onto it, because that protects the rate you already have.

Here is why that matters: premiums almost never go down. Your current rate is locked in and is not subject to future increases for as long as the policy stays in force. Cancel and start a fresh policy for the new bike later, and you give up that locked-in rate and pay whatever rates are in effect at the time you buy.

You also have a built-in cushion when you upgrade. A newly purchased bike is automatically covered under your existing policy for up to 30 days from the date you buy it. Tell us about the new bike before those 30 days are up and pay any added premium, and the coverage carries straight over with your rate intact.

If you are done with cycling and simply want out, canceling is quick and penalty-free. There is no cancellation fee, and you receive a refund of any unused premium, subject to the Minimum Earned Premium.

How do I replace my bike on the policy instead of canceling?

Keep the policy open and update it from your Client portal. Your new bike is covered automatically for up to 30 days from purchase, so notify us within that window, confirm the insured value, and pay any difference in premium. Your locked-in rate stays with you, which is something a brand-new policy cannot offer.

Will I get a refund if I cancel after selling my bike?

Yes. When you cancel through the Client portal you receive a refund of any unused premium, subject to the Minimum Earned Premium of $100 that applies to every policy. No separate cancellation fee is charged on top of that.
