About Mokwheel
Mokwheel’s founders built hoverboards and electric scooters before bikes, with a record in e-mobility the company dates to 2014. The e-bike line launched in late January 2022 with two fat-tire models, the Tor Plus and Upland Plus, each with a 750W motor and a 48V 16Ah battery at $1,699. Later that year an Indiegogo campaign paid for the Basalt, the model the brand still builds its identity around.
The Basalt is what Mokwheel calls a power station e-bike: a 940Wh battery on a Texas Instruments battery management system that feeds an inverter, so the bike can run a laptop, a camp light, or a power tool, and recharges from Mokwheel’s solar panels. The same idea now runs through the Basalt ST 2.0, the mid-drive Onyx, and the Obsidian 2.0, all fat-tire bikes with torque sensors, hydraulic brakes, and payload ratings of 450 to 560 lb.
Mokwheel is headquartered in Huntington Beach, California, where it runs a flagship store on Pacific Coast Highway, and sells direct and through dealers across the US. The lineup runs from the $800 Mesa Lite 2.0 to the $3,400 Onyx, and in 2026 the 31 lb belt-drive FLINT PRO added a lightweight Class 1 commuter to a catalog built around 80 lb fat-tire bikes. Every bike carries a two-year warranty for the original owner.
Most popular Mokwheel models
The fat-tire bikes are the core of the range. The Basalt 2.0 and step-through Basalt ST 2.0 pair a 750W rear hub motor (1,100W peak) with the 940Wh battery, 26 by 4 inch tires, 28 mph pedal assist, and a 450 lb payload, plus the inverter and solar charging that define the brand. The Onyx moves the motor to the crank, a 750W mid-drive with 1,300W peak and 210 Nm, on a full-suspension frame rated to 560 lb. The Obsidian 2.0 keeps the hub motor on a soft-tail frame with an air shock, the Tor Plus is the original 2022 fat bike and still sells at $1,300, and the Scoria 2.0 shrinks the format to 20 inch wheels with a wood-decked rear rack for cargo.
The commuters are lighter. The Tarmac runs 29 by 2.35 inch tires on a 58 lb frame with a 720Wh battery, the Asphalt is its 500W sibling at 64 lb, and the FLINT PRO cuts weight to 31 lb with a 250W motor, a Gates carbon belt, and a 20 mph Class 1 limit. The Mesa Lite 2.0 is the $800 entry point, the Slate folds to fit a car trunk, and the Granite E-Trike adds a differential rear axle and a 220 lb rear basket for riders who want three wheels. A torque-sensor commuter like the Tarmac gets locked outside an office every working day, which is where commuter bike insurance does its work: theft away from home is covered when the bike is locked to an immovable object with an appropriate security device.

The power station fat bike: 750W rear hub motor (1,100W peak), 940Wh battery, 26 by 4 inch tires, 28 mph pedal assist, a 450 lb payload, and the inverter and solar charging the brand is known for.

The step-through Basalt with the same 750W motor and 940Wh battery, plus a detachable HD display with anti-theft lockout and frame-integrated turn signals.

Mokwheel's flagship: a 750W mid-drive with 1,300W peak and 210 Nm, full suspension, a 10-speed Shimano drivetrain, 4-piston Tektro brakes, and a 560 lb payload on 26 by 4 inch tires.

A soft-tail fat bike with a 130mm fork and a mid-mounted air shock, 750W hub motor (1,300W peak), 940Wh battery, 10-speed drivetrain, and a 560 lb payload at 77 lb.

The compact cargo-ready model: 20 by 4 inch tires, a wood-decked rear rack, 750W motor (1,100W peak), 940Wh battery, and a low frame sized for smaller riders.

The flagship commuter: 29 by 2.35 inch tires, 750W motor (920W peak), 720Wh battery, torque sensor, and a detachable 2.8 inch display at 58 lb.

The lighter urban bike: 500W motor (860W peak), 48V 14.7Ah battery, 27.5 by 2.4 inch tires, torque sensor, and hydraulic disc brakes at 64 lb.

A 31 lb Class 1 commuter with a 250W motor (500W peak), a Gates carbon belt, 700 by 45C tires, a torque sensor, and up to 70 miles from a 36V 10Ah battery.

The $800 entry point: 350W motor (600W peak), 36V 14.7Ah battery, 100mm suspension fork, 27.5 by 2.4 inch tires, and 25 mph pedal assist.

The original 2022 Mokwheel fat bike, still in the range: 750W motor (1,100W peak), 48V 15Ah battery, 26 by 4 inch tires, 110mm fork, and a 450 lb payload.

The folder: 20 by 3 inch tires, a 500W motor (860W peak), 720Wh battery, 80mm fork, and a frame that folds to 39 by 12 by 30 inches.

The electric trike: 500W motor (860W peak), 720Wh battery, differential rear axle, hydraulic brakes with a parking brake, a 220 lb rear basket, and a 20 mph limit.
Mokwheel's Warranty: What It Covers and Where It Stops
Mokwheel backs every e-bike against manufacturing defects for two years, for the original owner, bought through an authorized channel. Five terms decide what that is worth to you.
Two years on non-wearable parts
Mokwheel warrants the e-bike free from manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for two years from the date of purchase. Non-wearable parts found defective, at Mokwheel's sole discretion, are repaired or replaced, and a replacement is covered for six months or the rest of the original term, whichever is later.
Batteries and motors: free repair or replacement after Mokwheel inspects them
Defective batteries and motors are repaired or replaced at no cost once Mokwheel evaluates them directly. The battery loses coverage if it was charged with an unsuitable charger, if a seal is damaged or shows tampering, or if it was used in anything other than the designated bike.
Original owner, authorized seller, receipt in hand
Coverage is not transferable and applies only to the original owner and the original product. Bikes bought from unauthorized sources are not covered, and a claim needs the receipt and verified purchase details.
Mokwheel ships the part; you or your mechanic install it
Claims start at the Help Center with photos for the technical team to diagnose. Mokwheel covers shipping on replacement parts and sends them with instructions, recommends a certified mechanic inspect the bike before the first ride, and says customer assembly is at the customer's own risk. Shipping damage must be reported within 7 days.
Crashes, water, racing, and modifications are outside it
Wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads, cables, grips, chain, and spokes are excluded, as are liquid damage, competition use, misuse, unauthorized modifications or repairs, and use outside North America. The page says nothing about collision damage or theft, and a defect warranty never covers them. That is the gap a Velosurance policy fills.
Summary of the Mokwheel Warranty page (Two (2) Year Limited Warranty), reviewed October 15, 2026. Applies to new Mokwheel e-bikes bought from Mokwheel's authorized channels and used in North America, for the original owner. Accessories carry a separate 30-day defect warranty. The manufacturer decides every warranty claim, and its full published terms govern.
