About Haibike
Haibike was founded in 1995 by Susanne and Felix Puello in Schweinfurt, Germany, as the performance brand of the Winora Group. The family’s bicycle roots run deeper still: Susanne’s grandfather Engelbert Wiener started building bikes under E. Wiener Ltd in 1914, and the Winora Group remains headquartered in Schweinfurt today.
Haibike’s claim to history is the e-MTB itself. At Eurobike 2010 it unveiled the eQ XDURO, the first electric mountain bike genuinely built for off-road use, with a Bosch mid-drive rotated and integrated into the front triangle. Demand outran supply immediately, and the “ePerformance” formula defined the category: motor-agnostic engineering across Bosch, Yamaha, and Fazua systems in purpose-built frames rather than electrified conversions.
Haibike sold bikes in America through the XDURO and SDURO era, but the US licensing arrangement ended around 2023 and new-bike distribution wound down. The brand keeps building in Europe, where the AllMtn, Hybe, and Lyke carry the current torch. For the thousands of XDURO and SDURO owners still riding US trails, factory support is an ocean away, which makes replacement-cost insurance the practical safety net.
Most popular Haibike models
The current European lineup is e-MTB first. The AllMtn is the flagship trail family, built around the Bosch Performance Line CX with PowerTube batteries up to 750Wh, spanning alloy trims and CF carbon builds. The Hybe is the long-travel carbon enduro flagship, the Lyke is the lightweight e-MTB built on the Fazua Ride 60 drive, and the AllTrack covers the hardtail end of the range.
American riders mostly own the US-era bikes: the Bosch-powered XDURO AllMtn and XDURO Nduro that defined the brand’s full-suspension reputation here, the Yamaha-powered SDURO FullSeven and SDURO Trekking that made e-MTBs and e-touring affordable, and the TranzX-powered Urban Plus that handled the 28 mph commute. These are bikes that climb 30 to 60 miles per charge and descend like enduro rigs, and they get crashed like enduro rigs, which is exactly the loss profile mountain bike insurance is built to absorb. With US dealer support gone, a totaled frame or stolen bike is a check, not a warranty claim.
