Is my bike covered internationally?

Last updated

With the optional Worldwide coverage selected, your theft and accidental damage protection extends to any country in the world. The bike is covered while you travel internationally, and it is covered in transit too, so a bike lost or damaged by an airline, a postal courier, or a specialty logistics provider such as Bike Flights is protected. Bikes stored inside a locked motorhome or car while traveling abroad are covered as well.

All theft claims require a police report detailing how and where the bike was locked at the time of the theft, so report the theft to the local police wherever it happens and keep a copy. If the bike is stolen from inside a locked vehicle, there must be visible evidence of how the thief got in: a cut lock or a forced door or window triggers coverage, while a mysterious disappearance does not.

How do I add Worldwide coverage for a trip?

Worldwide coverage is built to flex around your travel. Add it through your Client portal a few days before you leave and remove it the same way once you are back in the USA, so you only pay for the stretch you actually ride abroad. The premium is 10 percent of your annual premium, prorated from the date you add it. The step-by-step is in how to add worldwide coverage.

Am I covered when I fly or ship my bike abroad?

Coverage follows the bike in transit, not only once you arrive. A bike lost or damaged by an airline, a postal courier, or a specialty logistics provider such as Bike Flights is protected, as is one stored inside a locked motorhome or car while you travel. Within North America the standard policy already covers the bike in transit, which we cover in coverage while you travel the USA and Canada.

Which coverages stay within the USA and Canada?

Your medical payments, liability, and vehicle contact protection give you full coverage throughout the USA and Canada. Worldwide coverage extends the physical damage and theft protection abroad, so plan separate medical and liability coverage before an international trip. Riding that stays in North America keeps every coverage in force, including full protection in Canada.
