The Velosurance multi-bike discount
The Velosurance multi-bike discount rewards cyclists who insure more than one bike on the same policy: 10% off the bicycle coverage premium for two bikes, 15% off for three or more. There is no upper limit on the number of bikes scheduled, and no cap on the dollar savings. The discount stacks with any one of our three membership-based discounts (USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, IMBA) on the same policy.
Discount
10% off the bicycle coverage premium for two bikes scheduled on one policy. 15% off for three or more.
Who qualifies
Any cyclist who insures more than one bicycle on a single Velosurance policy. All bike formats and all e-bike classes count toward the threshold.
Household
Bikes owned by different members of a household all count toward the threshold on a single policy.
Stacking
Combines with the USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, or IMBA membership discount on the same policy.
Why we offer a multi-bike discount
Most serious cyclists own more than one bike, and many own three or more. The Velosurance multi-bike discount rewards that progression: two bikes scheduled on the same policy earn 10% off the bicycle coverage premium, three or more earn 15%. There is no upper limit on the number of bikes scheduled, and no cap on the dollar savings.
There is real underwriting logic behind the discount, not just a marketing one. A cyclist can ride only one bike at a time, so the in-use exposure on a multi-bike policy at any given moment is no greater than on a single-bike policy. The other bikes sit at home in a controlled storage environment, with materially lower crash and theft risk than the bike being ridden. Total risk is diminished and spread across the schedule, and the discount reflects that math.
How the discount is calculated
Velosurance prices each bike on the policy individually. The premium for each bike depends on its agreed value, category, the policyholder's location, and the chosen deductible. The multi-bike discount is then applied automatically to the sum of those individual premiums, with no coupon or application step required.
For example, a household that insures a $7,000 road bike, a $4,500 gravel bike, and a $3,200 e-cargo bike on one policy receives a 15% multi-bike discount on the total bicycle coverage premium before taxes and fees. The same three bikes split across separate policies would earn no multi-bike discount, and the household would lose the convenience of a single renewal, a single deductible, and a single point of contact for claims.
Which bikes count toward the discount
Every bicycle Velosurance insures counts toward the multi-bike threshold, including all e-bike classes. The discount does not depend on brand, price tier, or age, only on the number of scheduled bikes on the policy.
There is no requirement that all bikes belong to the same person. A Velosurance policy can cover bicycles owned by every member of a household, so a parent's race bike, a partner's gravel bike, and a junior's training bike on one policy all count toward the three-bike threshold.
Stacking the multi-bike discount with membership-based discounts
The multi-bike discount is a separate category from our three membership-based discounts, and the two stack. A two-bike policy held by an active USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, or IMBA member earns both the 10% multi-bike discount and the 10% membership discount on the same bicycle coverage premium; three or more bikes step the multi-bike portion to 15% while the membership discount remains at 10%.
Memberships in multiple qualifying organizations do not multiply. A cyclist who is an active member of more than one (for example, both USA Cycling and IMBA) receives a single 10% membership-association discount, not two.
Eligibility and verification
Each bike on the policy is documented at issue with make, model, year, serial number, agreed value, and supporting documentation such as a sales receipt or recent photo. The same documentation supports any future claim.
Bikes can be added or removed mid-term. When a bike is added, the discount tier is reevaluated and applied immediately; when one is removed, the policy returns to whatever tier the remaining schedule supports, with premium prorated to match. When more than one bike is involved in the same incident, all are handled under one claim with one adjuster.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do all the bikes on the policy have to belong to the same person?
No. Velosurance policies can cover bicycles owned by any household member, so a parent's race bike, a partner's gravel bike, and a junior's training bike on one policy all count toward the multi-bike threshold.
Do e-bikes count toward the multi-bike threshold?
Yes. E-bikes of all classes count on the same terms as traditional bicycles, with the agreed value set individually to reflect their higher replacement cost.
Does the multi-bike discount stack with the USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, or IMBA discount?
Yes. The two are separate categories and apply together. A two-bike policy held by an active USA Cycling, USA Triathlon, or IMBA member earns both the 10% multi-bike discount and the 10% membership discount on the same bicycle coverage premium; three or more bikes step the multi-bike portion up to 15%.
Can I add a bike to my policy mid-term and get the higher discount immediately?
Yes. When a bike is added mid-term, the discount tier is reevaluated and applied immediately, with premium prorated to match. The same applies in reverse: if a bike is removed (for example, after it is sold), the policy returns to whatever tier the remaining schedule supports.
Is there a limit on the number of bikes I can schedule, or a cap on the savings?
No. There is no upper limit on the number of bikes scheduled on a single policy, and no cap on the dollar savings the discount can produce. The 15% tier applies to all policies with three or more bikes, regardless of total fleet size.
