What is competitive event fee reimbursement?

Last updated

Competitive Event Fee Reimbursement pays you back the entry fee when a covered loss keeps you from racing an event you already paid for and the organizer will not issue a refund. It pays up to $500 per occurrence and up to $1,000 per policy year.

The trigger is a covered loss to your insured bike: theft, or damage that leaves it unrideable before the start line. If you also carry Medical Payment coverage, an injury that stops you from competing in an event you entered triggers the reimbursement too.

Picture it: your bike is stolen the week before a gran fondo you paid $150 to enter, and the organizer has a no-refund policy. This coverage returns that entry fee, so the theft does not cost you the race fee on top of the bike.

You can use the benefit twice in a policy year, for two separate events, up to the $1,000 annual cap. If the loss happens more than 50 miles from home at an organized event, you may also qualify for rental bike reimbursement so you can still ride.

How much does competitive event fee reimbursement pay?

It pays up to $500 per occurrence and up to $1,000 per policy year. You can claim it twice in a single policy year, as long as each claim is for a separate event and the total stays within the $1,000 annual limit.

What triggers a reimbursement?

A covered loss to your insured bike, meaning theft or damage that prevents you from competing, triggers the benefit when the organizer will not refund your paid entry. If you purchased Medical Payment coverage, an injury that keeps you from competing in an event you entered also triggers it.
