Do you cover apparel and spare parts?
Last updated
Yes. Buy a Velosurance policy for your bike(Physical Damage Coverage) and you automatically get spare parts and cycling apparel protection at no extra cost. Apparel covers the gear you wear only when riding the insured bike: your helmet, shoes, glasses, gloves, and riding kit. Spare parts covers components that normally belong on the bike but were not mounted when the loss happened, like a spare wheelset or the training wheels you swap in for race day.
Each coverage carries its own limit, separate from the limit on the bike: up to $500 per loss and $1,000 for the policy term. Both apply when a covered loss to the bike exceeds your deductible, so the same crash that bends your frame and shreds your kit draws on the apparel limit at the same time.
One thing to know: apparel here means gear worn exclusively for cycling, so everyday street clothes and the contents of your panniers are not included.
